Steps in searching for your lost pet bird

Self-care

Pets are family and this may be a very difficult time for you. Remember that you must take care of yourself. You have to eat to keep up your energy and to stay healthy. I remember how I had to be my own coach and tell myself to eat so that I could have the energy to go out looking and walking for Kit Kat when I lost her.

Even though it was a very difficult time for me, I still had to go to work, pay the bills, and function. You must be your own coach. Try to be present with the situation. Take it one step at a time. One hour at a time. One day at at time. Try not to think of the future or anything negative. Only focus on the now. Try to be as present as possible. I did this every day as I searched. It was not easy, but it helped me cope with loss.

Try to be gentle with yourself and forgive yourself. You are doing the best you can in the situation and doing your best is really all that you can do. Keeping your feelings inside will not help in the situation so find some support with friends to talk to.

Exercise really helped me relieve the stress I was feeling. I also do yoga and meditation which really helped me cope with stress and loss. Saying a positive mantra over in my head also helps me focus on the present moment. I truly believe that positivity attracts other positive actions. I prayed a lot for guidance and direction as I searched for Kit Kat. Having faith and believing that things happen for a reason and that the universe takes care of everything also helped me stay strong.
